Privacy Policy

Convert4Me (“we”, “the site”) is operated from Canada (contact: support@akaalsoftwares.com). It is built to collect as little information as possible. This page explains what that means in practice.

Your text, files and logos stay on your device

The tools on this site process everything inside your web browser. The text you type, paste or open from a file is not sent to our servers, not stored by us and not shared with anyone. When you close or refresh the page, it is gone.

The same applies to pictures and files you choose. For example, a logo you add to a QR code is read and drawn by your own browser. It is not uploaded to a server, and it is not saved on our side or in your browser. Files you choose for a checksum, or text files you open, are handled the same way. If you download a QR code, the file is created on your device and saved wherever you choose.

What we store in your browser

The site saves a few settings on your device so that it remembers your choices. They stay in your browser’s local storage, are not sent anywhere and can be cleared at any time in your browser settings:

• your light or dark mode choice (theme);
• the country you picked in the mortgage, tax and loan calculators (convert4me-country);
• the language you chose, if any (convert4me-lang);
• the list of proper nouns you added in the case tools, and whether the built-in list is on (convert4me-proper-nouns);
• your cookie choices (convert4me-consent), which are asked again after 12 months;
• only if you accept “Visit statistics”: the two Google Analytics cookies described below (_ga and _ga_5K9ZE9H7NE), which Google sets for up to two years unless you withdraw sooner;
• only if you accept in the cookie banner: the numbers you type into the calculators, such as a price, a rate or a custom discount, so they are filled in when you come back (names start with convert4me-calc). Choosing Reject, or changing your mind later with “Cookie settings” in the footer, means they are not saved, and anything already saved is deleted.

The developer API

The tools on this site run in your browser, but the optional public API (at api.convert4me.com) is different: it works by sending the text you want converted, in the address of the request, to our server, which answers right away. We do not store the text or the answers or use them for anything else, but the hosting provider (Vercel) may keep normal technical request logs, such as the address requested, the time and the IP address. Do not send passwords, personal data or other secrets to the API.

The browser extension

The Convert4Me Chrome extension (text case converter and counter) works entirely inside its popup. It asks for no browser permissions, so it cannot read the pages you visit, your tabs or your history. It does not collect, transmit, sell or share any data, has no analytics or advertising, and loads no code from outside the extension. The text you type is processed on your device only. The extension keeps your last text in its own local storage so it is there when you reopen the popup; it is not sent anywhere and is removed when you clear the text, clear the extension’s data or uninstall it. The “All tools” link in the popup opens this site, which is then covered by the rest of this policy.

Accounts and personal information

There are no accounts, sign-ups or forms on this site, so we do not collect names, email addresses or payment details.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Google Firebase Hosting. Like most web hosts, the hosting service may automatically record technical information when a page is requested, such as your IP address, browser type and the page visited. This is used to deliver the site securely and is handled under Google’s own privacy terms.

Visit statistics (Google Analytics)

If you choose “Visit statistics” in the cookie banner (or Accept all), the site loads Google Analytics, a service from Google, to count visits and see which pages are used, so we can improve the site. It is off until you say yes: before that, and if you choose Reject all, nothing is requested from Google for this purpose.

When it is on, Google Analytics sets two cookies (named _ga and _ga_5K9ZE9H7NE) and receives technical information such as the pages you view, your approximate location derived from your IP address, your browser and device type, the language and the page that sent you here. We have switched off Google signals and ad personalisation, and we keep the data for the shortest period Google offers. The text, numbers and files you use in the tools are never part of it. Google processes this data under its own terms; see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can withdraw at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page: the cookies are then deleted and nothing more is sent. You can also install Google’s opt-out add-on for browsers.

Advertising

At the time of writing, the site does not show advertising and does not use advertising cookies. If that changes, for example by showing ads from a network such as Google AdSense, we will update this policy first, explain which cookies are used and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Links to other sites

Some pages may link to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

Children

The site is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
