Lower quality gives a smaller file. It applies to JPG and WebP; PNG is always lossless.

Limit the longest side

JPG cannot be transparent, so this colour fills those areas.

PNG or JPG: which one do you need?

A PNG keeps every pixel exactly, which makes it ideal for graphics, but a PNG photo can be several times larger than the same photo as a JPG. Converting to JPG is the quickest way to get a photo under an upload limit or to make a page load faster.

Your pictures stay private

This tool works entirely inside your web browser. Your pictures are read by your own device, changed there and saved from there. They are not uploaded to a server, so nothing is stored, shared or seen by anyone else, and the page keeps working if your connection drops after it has loaded.

How to use the PNG to JPG tool

  1. Drop your PNG files on the box or click it to choose them.
  2. Pick the quality and, if the picture has transparent areas, the colour that should fill them.
  3. Download each JPG, or press Download all for a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Why convert PNG to JPG?

JPG files are usually much smaller than PNG for photos, which makes them faster to upload, email and load on a web page. PNG is better for logos, screenshots and pictures that need transparency.

Will I lose quality?

JPG is a lossy format, so a little detail is lost. At 85% quality the difference is hard to see on most photos, and you can raise the quality for sharper results.

What about the transparent parts of my PNG?

JPG has no transparency, so those areas are filled with white by default. Use the colour box to choose another colour.

Is this converter really free and private?

Yes. It is free, has no limit on file size beyond what your browser can handle, and your pictures are never uploaded.

Can I convert more than one PNG at once?

Yes. Add up to 50 files and download them together as a ZIP.
