Fuel and bigger volumes

Petrol and diesel are sold by the litre in most countries and by the US gallon in the United States. In the UK, fuel economy is still often quoted in miles per imperial gallon. Because an imperial gallon is about 20% larger than a US gallon, 40 mpg (imperial) is only about 33 mpg (US).

How to convert volume in Excel or Google Sheets

Use =CONVERT(A1,"l","gal") to change litres in A1 to US gallons. Other codes include "ml", "cup", "tbs", "tsp", "pt", "qt" and "uk_gal" for the imperial gallon.
